吴爱维
Ivy Wu was granted the Honor Award Scholarship by Savannah College of Art and Design (SCAD) to study in her graduate school, received Master of Fine Art in painting. Her artworks were featured in The Museum of Contemporary Art, Georgia (MOCA GA), AAPI Talents Exhibition in Coca-Cola's headquarter, Hollis Taggart Gallery in New York, Kenna Xu Gallery in Shenzhen and other exhibitions. She is the winner of 39th SCAD Sidewalk Art Festival, SCAD Alumni Atelier Ambassador, reported in Whitewall Art Magazine, Artnet, featured as a passionate contemporary artist on Visionary Artistry Magazine and other publications. Her paintings have been collected in private, cooperate and public collections in North America, Asia and Europe. She is an Assistant Professor of Art, teaching in the Kennesaw State University's College of the Arts, living and creating in Atlanta, Georgia.
Wu embraces vivacious brushstrokes in her abstract gestural work, vibrates with explosive colors and sense of lines. Channeling her creative energy onto large-scaled surfaces, she paints and smudges paints rapidly in an intuitive way. She finds a range of inspirations in nature and personal narrative. Beyond visual culture, the immediate surroundings, the complexity of lived experiences lies the heart of her practice. She paints herself as a silhouette figure as part of the obscure abstraction. She lives in her work. That is her synaesthetic response to the chaotic but unified world. In the myths of pleasure, the composition hovers on the edge of the abstraction and figuration in an open dimension. A style of automatic painting or blind drawing, with a status of stable and unstable in shapes and colors, rooted in her imagination.
